Operations Director

Responsibilities:

The Operations Director will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and optimizing supply chain performance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supply Chain Strategy: Lead the development and execution of the global supply chain strategy.
  • NPI Transition: Manage supplier transitions from development to production, introducing best practices and new capabilities.
  • KPI Management: Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain efficiency, including quality, lead times, on-time delivery, and inventory turnover.
  • Inventory Optimization: Optimize inventory levels to balance supply and demand, minimizing carrying costs while ensuring product availability.
  • Quality Assurance: Enforce quality standards for subcontractor work, ensuring compliance with project specifications and requirements.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Project Management: Develop and manage project plans related to subcontractor activities, aligning them with overall supply chain objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with subcontractor activities.
  • Cost Reduction: Initiate cost reduction activities, including logistics and engineering.
  • Production Ramp-Up: Work with suppliers to enable rapid production ramp-up from hundreds to thousands of units per year.
  • Long-Term Strategy: Develop a long-term strategy with third-party manufacturers.
  • Priority Management: Implement a priority system to support logistics and commercial activities.
  • Internal Collaboration: Promote activities within the organization to improve supplier performance (e.g., building jigs, ECOs).
  • Product Launch: Oversee the logistics of new product launches and expansions, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Capacity Expansion: Expand production capacity by identifying and onboarding additional potential turn-key contractors.
  • High-Volume, Low-Cost Production: Explore opportunities for high-volume, low-cost production options.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of industry experience in purchasing, production, and working with turnkey subcontractors, and at least 5 years of supply chain experience.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Process Improvement: Ability to drive process improvements both internally and externally.
  • Supply Chain Expertise: Hands-on experience with commercial forecasting, inventory management, and commercial launch planning and execution.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of medical device standards and regulations (e.g., EU MDR, FDA, ISO 13485, risk management).
  • Technical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of ERP systems (preferred).
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
